Ceres! Oh what a beautiful small town approximately 1h30min out of Cape Town. Surrounded by mountains and friendly faces. I had decided after years of putting it off to visit my buddy, Yolani in her home town. Consequently she happens to have be the co-founder of a bakery. Years back she told me about this idea she and her brother had of starting a buisness. At the time it seemed surreal to me, even adult -like. Yet there business boomed!!!

Initially they starting selling "Roosterbrood", and with the skills Yolani had gained working in various kitchens around Cape town, her pastry skills developed. Today the store Kole & Deeg sells various baked treats including but not limited to croutons, shortbread, scones, bread and the list goes on and on. They mentioned that they try to change the menu every two weeks, so its guarenteed there'll always be something new to try:) Hope your dentist will be okay with that haha.

Not to long ago they started adding tasty warm meals to their menus with the knowledge of Stefan. Burgers, fish, soup, mouthwatering meals I tell you.

The first evening I arrived in Ceres, I drove straight to the restaurant and got to try their delicious Malva pudding. If you know me personally, you'd understand my obsession with malva pudding. YUM!!!

The following day I decided to treat myself with a beef burger. Every ingredient in the burger completly original. I usually pick pickles off burgers as I dont like the taste. Yet with this burger I left it on and tried it to understand how the flavors link up. Honestly best decision ever. The pickles added a fresh taste to the spices, definitely completing the flavours.

Slight back story to my and Yolani's friendship. We met in varsity, first year and learned alot from one another. Both of us with calm personalities, always keen to try something new. She left in second or third year and joined a culinary school in Stellenbosch. I remember the day I went to visit her to ask what had happened. She replied saying that she would like to do something she loves doing. I then said, " I wish I had the same amount of courage to pursue something I loved. I didn't know it at the time. but yeah years later here I am pursuing what I'm passionate about. My take on all of this? Listen to your friends, some of them will give the best advice as they know what you're going through.

P.S. I have a fro after she encourgad natural hair, so Thank you Lani for helping me find myself by being yourself:).
